ISD: fines fix rats?

You might want to try something a bit more poisonous. That said, this is some quality reporting. Thank goodness for the Herald, our last best printed hope.

Until then, Allston’s best defense: Klondike the cat, the neighborhood’s most lethal rat catcher. “He comes home with one or two rats on a daily basis, some days it’s three,” said Linda Osgood, 51, of her 4-year-old black cat.

Osgood’s neighbors on Bayard Street said they are very grateful for Klondike’s hunting prowess. But Osgood is not always so grateful. Klondike normally leaves his dead prey on their front yard. But last week he snuck in the house with a live rat in his mouth.

“My husband let him in at five in the morning. He didn’t realize Klondike had a rat in his mouth since it was dark,” Osgood said, noting that she came from work that day to discover her cat chasing the wounded rat around her living room. “I’m so afraid of them. I was in hysterics.”

Bill O on BU

Thanks to the BU alumni magazine for letting me know Bill O’Reilly and I share something in common (the alma mater, not bottomless wells of rage). From his new book A Bold Fresh Piece of Hunka Hunka -

Unfortunately, LSD and other drugs were everywhere at BU. Getting stoned was routine. Everybody was doing it. Everybody, that is, but me. … I have never been intoxicated or taken any illeagal drug, including marijuana. Now, I know some people think this is weired, but I am proud of it. I made a decision: I did not want to be under the influence of anything other than my own dubious personality. Ever.

Jeff has a show at O’Brien’s next Wednesday. Many Mansions is worth the price of admission ($7).

And for those of you so inclined, Concord Ballet Orchestra Players are performing next Wednesday, April 8 at O’Brien’s in Allston with Prince Rama of Ayodhya (yes, they are as good as you’ve heard), Jealousy (from California), and Many Mansions (from JP). For an amazing poster designed for the show and all the other info on that, go check out the new band website I built: cbop.wordpress.com.
