Unfortunately I have to ignore this site for a few weeks. I’ll be back in late September to resume my standard semi-slow posting pattern. In the interim, I’ll leave as a last post this slideshow of recent photos from the Allston City Limits flickr pool. If you’d like to write something for the site (say, covering the upcoming Allston Village Street Fair!) please feel free (you can register here) – I’ll approve them as I’m able. Which is to say, not very quickly.

So huge surprise, some kid got busted for open container at a back to school house party, not really worth mentioning. I’m not a big fan of formal police action for non-violent public drunkenness and in this case it looks like a crowd was asked to disperse before things got all arrest-y. To be honest the only reason I’m even posting this is have an excuse to link to a much better example of drinking in public. If you want to achieve drinking greatness you gotta aim a little higher than Ashford Street.

In a completely unrelated sidenote: the BAA half marathon is October 10th and I’ve never seen anyone detain bandit runners.

Sound Museum attack

Apparently there was some violence last weekend at the Sound Museum after a security guard spotted some intruders on the close circuit. 7PM on a Saturday is a curious time for this kind of antisocial BS.

On their search, the owner and security guard heard noise coming from the second floor bathroom and entered to find one of the partitions torn from its position and thrown on the floor. The owner and security guard exited the bathroom where the suspects in the second floor hallway confronted them.

At that time, [James Brian] McCloud allegedly grabbed the security guard’s three-foot wooden club and began beating him about the head with it while [Ian Mark] Champion allegedly punched him in the head and upper torso.

The owner told police that both suspects took turns beating the victim with the club and at one point placed the club on the victim’s neck attempting to chock him.

Joe D. would like to give a shout out to the balding middle aged white man who was wearing a white tank top and riding a tricycle over the BU bridge about 30 mins ago. Thank you for staring me in the eye while you made farting noises with your mouth as you passed. I didn’t expect to laugh my way through the last 1.5 miles of my run.

Someone forwarded me a link about K9 & Cocktails at The Beehive in the South End this Sunday and I’ll admit, whether it’s intended for man or critter (something I’m still not clear on) the concept of a “Beeftini” made me mildly nauseous. The Mutt Mingle at Unleashed in Allston Village (today after work, 5:30pm) is more circumspect with their refreshment list, but it’s fair to assume it’s the gastronomically safer choice.

This event is a great social event for dogs and their owners. There will be “playtime” for the dogs while their parent’s can socialize. Light refreshments will be served.

New Internet Service Provider

A new internet service provider will be launching all around Boston. It’s a wireless provider so you can take it around the city with you, not just be stuck at home. Got an email from Clear saying they are hosting a “meet and greet” so people can learn about the new technology while meeting other bloggers with free Wi-Fi. Brian Honan 5k Road Race Presented by New Balance on Sunday, September 12th, 2010 at 12:00pm. Funds raised from the event will benefits scholarships for the Allston Board of Trade and the Brighton Board of Trade. The race also benefits the Brian J.
