Unlike this, a story of valuable and needed police intervention (under considerable duress). From the description in the TAB, it looks like there was remarkable restraint on the BPD’s part that weapons were not discharged.
[T]he large group surrounded the officer and began punching and kicking him, but the officer was still able to retrieve the gun from Santos.
Felisberto Lopes, 34, of 72 Hancock St. in Dorchester, allegedly repeatedly punched and kicked the officer while he was trying to get the gun from Santos, and was placed under arrest and charged with assault and battery on a police officer. Santos was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a firearm.
Police were able to discern that the fight began when a victim who had been standing outside The Kells restaurant on Brighton Avenue in Allston was approached by a group of several men and asked, “Can you kill someone or are you going to get killed?”
The group then allegedly punched him in the stomach and head. A witness saw the fight occurring and went to help, but he was slashed in the arm with a sharp piece of steel and was later transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for a laceration to his arm.
Police also discovered one of the victims’ cell phones on Santos and fresh blood on Santos’ shirt, which was held for evidence. Police also returned $106, a wallet and a cell phone to another victim and confiscated the firearm, sharp piece of metal and the stolen cell phone.
Stabby Melee indeed. This is the second major incident at Harvard Ave and Gardner St in the past two weeks. I’m guessing the gun toting Paulo Santos is not photojournalist, or the same guy who foiled a maternity dress heist in Beacon Hill a few years back. A note to would be gangstas looking for your 15 minutes of pre-incarceration thug glory, set up a myspace site first so we can mock your choice of tats after you’re safely arrested.

Not surprising considering the clientele the Kells seems to attract. Jerry Quinn would be living up to his reputation as a philanthropic, community-minded, all ’round stand up guy….if he shut his own business down
Yeah right.
