The Breakers have won 4 of their last 5 and have somehow moved themselves from near last into playoff contention (though that talk may be premature with six weeks of soccer to go). One of which is here at Harvard Stadium tonight (6pm) against Washington. If you haven’t already it might be time to think about gettin’ on the bandwagon.

An improbable but exciting two game winning streak has lifted the Breakers to a 3-5-4 record. They’ll be looking for another three points at 6pm tonight at Harvard Stadium against the Washington Freedom. Tickets ($15+) are still available.

Here come the Red Stars!

Over at the World Cup this morning we’ve got the all important Brazil v Portugal, but try to remember our little local fringe sides too. The Boston Breakers play host to Chicago Red Stars (and their vaguely DPRK jerseys) at Harvard Stadium, tonight at 7:30. The Breakers are a we’re still trying! 1-4-4 but a win tonight would move them up a spot in the standings, over Chicago (small victories!). Since you probably won’t be able to read about the game in the paper here’s another link for Lee’s Boston Breakers Report.

Marta tops the Breakers

Lee Pender sums up the reason for the Breakers recent (5/14) loss on Bleacher Report.

The best women’s soccer player in the world came to Boston Friday night and showed exactly why she’s the best. Marta, the Brazilian star and four-time, reigning FIFA World Player of the Year, dazzled at Harvard Stadium and sunk the Boston Breakers with a magnificent brace of goals in a 2-1 win for FC Gold Pride.

It doesn’t sound like there was particularly strong hometown pride.

In front of a crowd of 5283, many of whom abandoned the home team to cheer for Marta, the Brazilian scored her goals 22 minutes apart.

More updates from Lee & co on Breakers Report. Their next home game is against the Saint Louis Athletica on June 5th.
