Harry Mattison makes a request that interested folks contact Secretary of Transportation James Aloisi by this Friday to express an interest in and preference of Allston commuter rail stops. He includes a handy chart comparing the two main options for locating a station, at Cambridge St/Sports Depot and Everett St/Stop & Shop.

I’m having a hard time removing my own biases about the options presented from my thought processes on this. The Cambridge St. stop would be superior for me personally but has a lower overall projected ridership in 2030. I don’t know if 20 year estimated differences of 200/day are particularly believable or not, especially given potential integration with a hypothetical urban ring. Also it seems logical that the Cambridge St. option would have a stairway/elevator up to Cambridge St. itself directly tying into the 66 line to Harvard and Longwood.

At any rate, if you don’t have time to mail a physical letter (and really, unless you’re more on the ball than I you really don’t at this point) you can find the contact page for the Executive Office of Transportation here. Or you can call directly, at 617-973-7000.

Also, the full report is pretty interesting. Maps of the two primary options are on pages 17 & 19.
