Green Day?

Posted by nathanael. Filed Under bars, music | Leave a Comment

Boston.com says Green Day is playing at O’Brien’s tonight, going so far as to give a nice little bio (Green Day formed in 1987, for the majority of its existence the band has consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass guitar, vocals), and Tré Cool (drums, percussion) Green Day was originally part of the punk rock scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California.). It’s not exactly going to be those guys – they’re touring the arena circuit in England at the moment (here). Anyway, a little Halloween 90’s punk night sounds like more fun than going to some non-existent massive megashow so check out Fatal Flaw & co.

I just noticed that The Diamond Mines (one of the Foss Fest bands) is playing at O’Brien’s tomorrow, along with Left Hand Does and Ovlov. Tickets are eight bucks.

Also – these guys were on WMBR’s Pipeline late last year. You can stream to that set here.

Nic Cage at O’Briens?

nic-cage

According to The Pheonix, he was there last night to see his son’s set. They quote Rev. Aaron of Return to the Pit.

“He did what 90% of your dads never did and stood in a bar with 50 people checking out your band. Also, there was a bro-pit raging around him and he just stood there watching the show. Aces in my book.”

I now consider us even for the precious time I wasted with Lord of War. Wait! He has another son named Kal-El? That’s got to absolve a few more clunkers.

The O’Brien’s Triangle of MAD CASH

Bermuda Triangle, originally uploaded by Clashmaker.

The Shoegazer, lucky.

This bill was spotted almost immediately after entering the bar. Interesting side fact – about six years ago The Shoegazer found a crisp $50 bill lying on the ground right outside this bar. Perhaps O’Briens is part of a portal or Bermuda Triangle for lost money turning up.

Bad forced rhymes are too good to pass up.

From Scamper -

Speaking of rock and roll shows, do you think it’s too early to start promoting the Brawlston in Allston – the March 22 Saturday night Brendan Boogie Band show at O’Brien’s in Allston with The Mystery Tramps and Soap Stars? Yeah, me too.
