As we mentioned (and as I know you all already know), Our House West is indeed closing, sometime this summer. But prior to that, a last art event, this Thursday, 6/24. Body paint + street art wins the week.

THIS WILL BE THE LAST ARTSHARE at OUR HOUSE WEST BEFORE WE CLOSE THIS SUMMER.

but all that means is we’re going to send the bar that has hosted this awesome night for the last 8 months off right.

The Art share is going to start earlier this month

6-9pm OUTSIDE on the PATIO
- Live bikini and body painting
- street art and performances

9pm-2am INSIDE the BAR
- art share
- live painting
- music
- printmaking
- visuals

Via nifty thrifty boston.

A future for Our House West…?

Our House

Is Our House West closing? We started with some twitter speculation, possible confirmation, a tenuous denial, finally replaced by … more speculation? Cheers to Grub Street for making the call (ah, primary sources! I had forgotten about you.).

Well, maybe it’s not so set in stone just yet — we called the restaurant for a confirmation on that confirmation, and a very in-the-know individual who preferred not to disclose his name told us that they “don’t know for sure” if the restaurant is on its last legs.

So we’ll leave it at that, a swarming mess of maybes. Meanwhile, it’s raining out, the Celts are off, and Wednesday is foosball night. Adam may well be right, so go score while you can.

New Year Nacho Mamas

Nacho Patrol has been eating their way through Allston. Their gut, your gain. HEED THEIR WISDOM.

Sunset Bar & Grill: massive

We were in heaven…yet it quickly turned to hell. These nachos suffer from too much of a good thing– so many ingredients were piled on them that it was near impossible to get an even distribution. It took us a good ten minutes to crack through the cheese to get to the pork, and even then, only Guest Judge Doreen had easy access.

Common Ground: unflavored

After a few bites we flagged down our waitress and asked for a side of chili in hope of a hail mary. We poured it on top and hoped for the best, but unfortunately, all was lost, as even the chili was bland…

Our House West: best when intoxicated

Yet despite all the awkwardness and embarrassment, we continue to return, for the $3 Brubaker’s, consistently favorable male-to-female ratio, and the fact that it is within stumbling distance of Nacho Patrol World Headquarters.

That sounds about right.

Our House West

An acceptable place for liquid brunch.

I started the day off with a blood mary because it is the only way to start drinking again while having a massive hangover. It wasn’t the best blood mary but it did the trick.

Unless that liquid is a Brubaker.

One word of warning. The 16 ounce bottles are refilled over and over again and you can rest assured that the bottle you are putting your lips on has tasted many, many lips for almost 20 years.

Though they do have some positive attributes.

Since Brubakers are twice the size of normal bottled beer, our visit to Our House West concluded with my drink count crossing the double digit marker.

Of course, if you’re not careful it’s entirely possible to end up shoeless there.

i think this picture is the percise reason that i miss boston and that i had to leave boston …. i hate photos that document nights you dont really remember.
