This week in The Kells

It’s been a busy week and The Kells updates keep on coming. To recap, a 24-year old guy (who was working at BU) is fatally stabbed outside the bar (in the middle of a crowd) over a dispute with some friendly guys he was talking to inside. Fortunately the police are around & foil escape of the (alleged) knife snatcher, Corey Patterson. Boston Licensing Board Chairman Daniel Pokaski bizarrely intones The Kells is “not a trouble spot“. Adam explains how one might think that’s not the most accurate view of things. Pokaski subsequently admits he’s not really been paying attention. Behind Dark Eyes finds the five (!) flask memorial. Jerry Quinn says fuggedaboutit and invites everyone over for thanksgiving turkey. Beirut League still scheduled for Monday.

Helen McWilliams of Vagiant (via Jim Sullivan) relays a somewhat amusing story about the political machinations resulting in them being dropped from the Rock City Music & Style Show due to the song above -

My band just got kicked off a benefit show for the Allston Village Main Streets due to our refusal to drop a song called (here) “F the Kells” from our setlist. The AVMS wasasking us not to play the song due to the influence of the owner of the Kells…. a band FROM Allston is getting kicked off a BENEFIT show FOR Allston because one of their songs is ABOUT Allston.

From Cheap Thrills

Allston residents will model the current fashion trends of their ambiguously bordered patch of Boston from local stores like The Lab, Horror Business, Stingray Body Art, Port of Prince, etc. House wares(?) will also be included. Probably a lot of modest, ankle-length dresses and fisherman sweaters. (Blarney!)

THUR 3/20
